Lunch
is what you make of it!
|
| |
Question: |
What
do working adults like to eat for lunch? How do they put
together a lunch to carry to work? What constitutes a
“sandwich”? What components are they looking for?
Does a sandwich have to include bread? Can they envision
interesting, pre-packaged lunches for grown-ups that do not
utilize a microwave? |
| |
Methods: |
Focus
groups. |
| |
Response: |
People
who carry their lunch to work were recruited for focus groups.
As a prelude to the group discussion, participants made a
typical sandwich for their work lunch and brought it to the
discussion. They described why they made the sandwich the
way they did – was it just the easiest or was their another
reason? How far were they willing to deviate from this
type of sandwich? They also reacted to several prototype
“sandwich” kits. |
| |
Impact: |
The
parameters of what could be considered a “sandwich” were
expanded based on these findings and several new product ideas
were developed for subsequent testing. |
